FAQ

  1. There are no poo bins on the beach. You have to pick up and bring back to the house – we have a silver coloured galvanised poo bin near the log store.

  2. It’s windy in norfolk. Very.

  3. Sometimes there are seals on our beaches so your dogs might need to go on lead. Please do not let your dog approach a seal.

  4. There are insects – spiders and flies, especially at harvest time.

  5. There are deer too, mostly muntjac, and sometimes you will see them through the fence.

  6. The road to The Lobster is an unmade sandy track, but it is hard underneath and you won’t get stuck.

  7. From May – August there is a fenced off bird nesting area on the beach. You can walk around it no problem but you do need to have your dogs under control around it. It’s an important breeding site for Little Terns.

  8. Our fencing is 4ft high, it’s post and rail with stock fence attached. The holes are smaller at the bottom. There are photos on the website. If your dog jumps 4ft fencing prob best you don’t come, East Ruston Cottages has plenty of properties with 6ft solid fencing which would be more suitable.

  9. Due to our insurance, and also the 4ft fencing, we regret we cannot accept any dogs on the UK Banned breed list.

  10. We walk here most mornings with our 3 friendly dogs. We’re easy enough to avoid as we walk pretty early.

  11. Although we are detached, We have neighbours on both sides. All lovely. Geese, ponies, and dogs. All fine, not usually visible through the fence but you can sometimes hear a woof or a squawk or a neighhhh

  12. Both bedrooms have an ensuite walk in rain shower. There is no bath.

  13. You may bring up to 4 dogs.

  14. It’s very dark at night time. There are owls and deer noises.

  15. We currently only take 7 night bookings. No more, no less.

  16. Our changeover day is a Friday. You can arrive after 4pm, and check out time is 10am.

  17. The nearest pubs are either Reefs Bar in Sea Palling or The Star in Lessingham. You could walk to them but it’s quite far.

  18. Dogs aren’t to be left on their own in the property. If you ask me, I might be able to come and dog sit if it’s just for a few hours.

  19. Depending on recent weather, it is possible certain parts of the garden may be inaccessible if there is standing water.
